Science
One of the major projects of the Alliance is to provide new science equipment for Nashville Public Schools. The Alliance seeks to raise $1,000,000 for science equipment. Science is critical today, more than ever before, to student success and achievment. Students must be prepared for a rapidly advancing world wide emphasis on science and its application. To provide a quality science program, each school needs equipment and supplies to allow students to perform experiments and to grasp a higher level of understanding.
Money for science equipment has not been part of the Metro Nashville Public Schools’ budgets for more than 30 years. Improving student achievement in science is one of the school system’s highest priorities. Metro schools have science labs throughout the school system, but they have little or no equipment to conduct the necessary experiments required in basic, as well as advanced level science courses. It is imperative that we provide our students the tools they need to pursue their interest and talents in science.
